Widgets

Ideally, you will be creating a desktop widget from a published cropped Image  from a Dashboard. When preparing your Widget files, you will need to set up your publishing task to 'Delivery Type - FileSystem'.

Also, ensure you do not tick "Include date in exported filename", as this will create a new file name with a date / time extension each time. Refer to Publishing  for further information.

Below you will see we have created two tasks which will create a png file and save them to a system folder. The Widget is created from a Dashboard Object (We called Widget). We also created a cropped image  from a dashboard (Widget Popout) that will show additional information when you hover the mouse over the desktop widget.

Test the publishing tasks you have set up for your widget files by running them manually in the Task Commands.

You will see a popup window confirming the published file has generated. Check your destination directory to ensure that the image is showing as intended. You will be pointing your settings to these newly created files.

Once you have launched the qvWise Widget, right click on the widget and select settings. You will have a number of settings including the opacity, reload time and the direction of the Popout Image.

Choose the file location / name of your test files for both the Widget and the Popout.  Set your opacity and reload settings as required and save.

Your Widget can be located anywhere on your desktop and be set to "Always on top" if required. By hovering your mouse over the Widget, your Popout window appear with that additional selected image.
